We have seen a huge increase in the number of small businesses owned by women in recent years. Because this growth has been so dramatic, millions of people now think of a woman when they visualize who owns the businesses they buy from.
A big pat on the back is what women everywhere deserve because of this amazing accomplishment. For small business owners, as is always the case, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.
A website is considered as the one thing that your small business must have. Ten years ago, it’s possible for lot of small businesses to do without having a website. But that is no longer the case. Here are the reasons why.
These days consumers and business leaders are more likely to use search engines than the Yellow Pages. The name of your town and your type of business into Google is what they will type and start their research from there.
Allowing you to put as much information as you want in a public forum is a website. You no longer have to pay thousands for a big newspaper ad just to let customers know about your prices, new services, or show photos of what you do. Now, all that information can be kept on your website all the time at little or no cost.
You know as well as I do that most customers are a little shy about asking questions. They don’t even want you to know they are interested most of the time until after they have learned more about your product, service, or idea. A web site allows that vast number of potential customers to privately and anonymously read all about your business. When they are ready to buy, they will then come forward with their questions and orders. Aside from this being a much more efficient way to do business, this can also lead to my next point.
Web based business operations can be EXTREMELY EFFICIENT. Customers often prefer convenient email over phone or in-person visits. Customers are encouraged by emails to organize their ideas and contacting you when they know what they want and are ready to act. You’ll find your web site generates many more customers and the customers you get are better organized.
Finally, women love to buy from women-owned businesses. As a group, women tend to be less compulsive shoppers than men. Buying an item on impulse is what a large segment of men will do while learning about your product or service and getting all the details they can before placing an order is what the vast majority of women prefer. For presenting a lot of information at very little cost, websites are actually perfect.
